New X610Z Shop: De Purperen Draak

After some contact we have sent a demo kit to Erik-Sander, an active MTG judge at 'De Purperen Draak' in Groningen. As soon as Erik received it, he and our game designer ‘Chaos’ Patrick had an inspiring video-call on skype to go over the game and its mechanics. Erik-Sander was really enthused and started to demonstrate ExistenZ at De Purperen Draak, supported by Martijn, the shopkeeper. The first order took place and was already sold out in the first week. Awesome job, guys! We are really grateful for all your efforts to set up a community in Groningen, The Netherlands.

On invitation of Mark Rivera, a game reviewer from the UK, Quantuum Magic will be presenting a preview with a mock-up of X610Z: On the Ruins of Chaos at the Uk Games Expo in Birmingham (http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk). This pre constructed (non-collectible) version contains 4 strategic ready-to-play decks. It offers a friendly way for board gamers to connect with the battle for ExistenZ. Next to the presentation on this fair, Mark also invited other game reviewers and other profesionals to give the game a go in the lounge of the Quality Hotel in Birmingham. We hope the hotel's staff can appreciate the loud game play of the team battles. ;-)

You can find our booth at Purple 4, where we have three demo tables. Looking forward  to see you there!

We recommend you to visit Mark Rivera's Blog at: http://rivcoach.wordpress.com

Silv's Alternative Game Ways
Run Like Hell

This is a game variant for team play (3v3) which can also be used in single-player (1v1). One player is the Runner. The Runner has to stay alive as long as possible.
The Runner has a team to help (except in single-player), the members of this team are called the Helpers. The members of the opposing team are called the Hunters.

Goal
The Runner has to stay alive as long as possible. At the start of each turn of the Runner the team of the Runner gets one point. After the first game a member of the other team is the Runner. After the second game the points are compared, the team with the most points is the winner.

Runner Life Base
The Life Base of the Runner has these stats: Attack 1, Defense 25, Speed 10 (!), Range 1. Cards like Alliances that change the basic stats of a Life Base have no effect on the Runner's Life Base. However, cards like Navigator, Marksman or Spirit of Morale that increase or decrease specific stats, can affect the Life Base of the Runner.

The Life Base of the Runner has an ability, this is part of the basic stats, so again it replaces the ability stated on the Life Base card (if any). This ability is that the Runner's Life Base can ignore the restriction on moving around sharp corners.

Rules
The game is played with the normal X610Z rules and a few modifications:

  • The Runner cannot have any Non Life Base Summons. If a Summon comes into the Runner's control for any reason (including having been cast by the Runner) it is treated as if the Runner already had a Summon of that class, in other words it is discarded.
  • The Helpers cannot have more than one Summon of each class together. Each Helper is considered to have a Summon of every class that the other Helper has. (This helps speed up the game.)
  • The Life Bases of Helpers and Hunters are considered to have infinite Defense, no card can change this. So it is not possible to win by blowing up a Life Base except the Life Base of the Runner.
  • Speed Win is not possible. Landing a Life Base on an End Dot does not have any effect.
  • Life Bases are not affected by the rule that says that Summon that are on an End Dot at the end of the turn are destroyed.
  • If a player cannot draw any cards from his or her deck it is as if Chaos is played. So everyone shuffles their hand and discard pile into their deck. The player who couldn't draw cards then continues drawing. If it is still not possible to draw cards all cards that were removed from play are shuffled back into the decks and the player continues to draw cards. If even then it is not possible to draw cards the other team wins. The point of this rule is to make Resource Win impossible as far as possible.
  • If a team gives up the other team has automatically won the entire match, regardless of points.
  • For the Runner's Life Base, the No-Attack Dots are ignored. This means it can be attacked damage, on any dot of the game board.

Single-player

In single-player the rules are essentially the same, only those for Helpers can be ignored as there are no helpers.

Have fun with this game variant, we hope you enjoy it!!!
